The Configuration Management taxonomy has been designed to provide a hierarchical connection between requirements and individual structures, systems, and components. To do so, it was necessary to make significant changes to the existing taxonomy previously laid out in NEI 97–04. The taxonomy remains consistent with the Configuration Management Equilibrium model described in INPO AP-929, shown in Figure 1 below:
